This December motorists - not just in California, but nationwide - will not find significant holiday savings at the gas pump although prices may drift lower, says AAA on Monday.

Prices Sunday in Rockford were 44¢ higher than on the same day one year ago, and 5.7¢ higher than this time last month. Heating oil rose 2 cents to $1.95 a gallon. Numerous other stations in the surrounding area were selling at prices ranging from $2.32 and $2.35.

The biggest bargain in Broward appears to be $2.31 a gallon at Rocket Fuel on Stirling Road at North 66th Avenue in Davie.

"Gasoline prices took a breather heading into Thanksgiving which may last another few days, but as oil prices perk back up heading into OPEC's annual meeting, we may see a rebound soon", said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
