Apple releases iOS 11.1 with new emoji, bug fixes, and more

Other iOS 11.1 changes include subtle visual tweaks, updated animations, and bug fixes.

According to iOS 11.1's release notes, the update also patches up a number of issues related to the photos app and improves a bunch of VoiceOver features. There are more than 70 new emoji included in iOS 11.1, including broccoli, a sled, a pie, a vampire, a hedgehog, a face with a monocle, a shushing face, and many more.

Finally, there's the option to force disconnect from a Wi-Fi network.

Apple has rolled out new versions of its mobile operating systems for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple Watch. To use 3D Touch to invoke the App Switcher just use a hard-press on the edge of the left side of your display.

Apple released tvOS 11.1 on Tuesday. One resolves an issue that caused settings for Heart Rate notifications to appear in the Apple Watch app for first generation Apple Watches, and another fixes a problem that prevents app icons from appearing in notifications on the Apple Watch.

Then, go to General Software Update.

Once iOS 11.1 is shown as an available update, tap "Download & Install" and follow the on-screen instructions. But, the update might not sit well with everyone, especially those with older devices like the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 6.

As always with interim updates like this, we encourage some level of caution when updating.
