49ers' Marquise Goodwin explains why he was emotional after touchdown vs Giants

The 49ers went on to defeat the Giants 31-21 to earn their first win of the season.

Goodwin not only played, but he caught an 83-yard touchdown pass helping to bring the 49ers to victory against the Giants. He then sank to his knees and made the sign of the cross.

On Sunday night, Goodwin revealed just why he responded the way he did to his first touchdown as a member of the 49ers.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, Goodwin's wife, Morgan, prematurely delivered a baby boy.

"Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan", Goodwin, 26, wrote on Instagram.

And when Goodwin scored the TD, he gripped the football tight, looked up to the sky and emotionally broke down in the end zone in this heartbreaking moment.

This wasn't the only big play Goodwin had in the game, as he also produced a big block on tight end Garrett Celek's 47-yard touchdown.

Both Goodwin and Goodwin-Snow are career athletes; they were stars on the track team at the University of Texas at Austin.

Either way, it's nearly unimaginable that Marquise was on the field on Sunday, just hours after the couple's tragedy.

"Despite our loss, my hubby kept grinding, scored his son a touchdown & got our first "W" of the season", she added.

"I just wanna thank those who've genuinely prayed for [wife Morgan Goodwin] & myself throughout this pregnancy", Goodwin began. "Please pray for the Goodwin family".
