Selena Quintanilla to receive posthumous star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Selena Quintanilla, known to her fans as the "queen of Tejano music", is finally getting her Hollywood star!

Hollywood Chamber President/CEO and Walk of Fame emcee Leron Gublerand Selena's sister Suzette Quintanilla will unveil Selena's star, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame's website.

The unveiling will take place on November 3 and her sister Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga will join Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler for the ceremony, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported. The Walk of Fame Selection Committee had first announced in 2016 that Selena would be honored with a star. The ceremony will be live streamed on the Walk of Fame's website here. The musical icon also received the award for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1986 at the Tejano Music Awards.

She began her rise in the music industry in the 80's before becoming one of the biggest names in music in the 90's. "I'm certain she would've been extremely proud and happy to receive this honor".

Quintanilla was just 23 years old when she was fatally shot. Today, she ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting the Texas sound into the mainstream national market.
