Kelly trying to restrict Kushner's access to Trump

The NSA briefers explained that cyberspies could be using sophisticated malware to turn the personal cellphones of White House aides into clandestine listening devices, to take photos and video without the user's knowledge and to transfer vast amounts of data via Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth, according to one former senior USA intelligence official familiar with the briefings...

Politico reported Monday that Kushner used a personal account to send messages to senior White House officials and outside advisers about media coverage, planning events, and other issues.

Kushner and other White House officials' use of the personal email accounts was first flagged as gross and hypocritical, given that Trump relentlessly criticized Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's extensive use of a private email server while running the State Department.

"The officials said White House aides also were told they should assume that foreign cyberspies had already penetrated their personal email systems to some degree and used that access to vacuum up everything not just on their own computers and phones but those of their contacts". The Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday asked Lowell to review all his private email and any form of communication on other messaging services, given that Kushner did not reveal the email account in a private interview, Politico cited.

In a July 2016 letter that essentially exonerated Clinton of any wrongdoing, former FBI Director James Comey said that it was that handling of classified information that Clinton was investigated for.

In its initial report, Politico noted that Kushner and Ivanka Trump weren't the only ones who have used emails to conduct government business. Fewer than a hundred emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account.

Politico said the probe began this week after it reported private email use by Kushner.

These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal, rather than his White House, address. So then he proceeded to use a personal email address for government business.
