Class 10 girl jumps from school building in Kerala, dies


School girl who jumped off her school building following alleged harassment by teachers succumbed to injuries on Monday. This Incident Happened at Kollam's Trinity Lyceum School had objected to her younger sister, 13, being punished by teachers for talking in the class.

She got into a heated argument with the teachers, following which her parents met the school authorities and threatened to file a complaint against the teachers.

The class 10 student jumped of the building after she was mocked by her and sister's classmates. Following which she got angry and tried to kill herself.

15-year-old Gauri, who hails from Ramankulangara, breathed her last at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram at around 2.30 am on Monday.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, a relative of the victim has alleged that the teachers even said they would not let her take the board examination. Her sister studies in Class 8 in the same school. Student organisations in Kollam held protests and clashed with police demanding strict action against the teachers of the school. Both the teachers scolded her in front of other teachers.

The police have registered a case under Section 305 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment to suicide) against two teachers, identified as Sindhu and Crescent.
