Amazon Key unlocks your door for in-home package deliveries ars_ab.settitle(1193423)

Instead of dropping off on the porch, a new service announced Wednesday would allow Amazon to unlock your door and gain access to your home - whether you're there or not - to leave the packages inside. Amazon said the drivers would be well-vetted, while one expert said the company has built up trust with customers and younger customers were more likely to try it out. The gadgets are required for the service.

Cloud Cam works seamlessly with Alexa on Echo Show, Echo Spot, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Fire tablets.

"Cloud Cam has all the features you need to monitor your home, including a 1080p Full HD camera, night vision, two-way audio, and free storage for clips-and with the secure AWS cloud powering Cloud Cam's advanced computer algorithms and intelligent alerts, the service is always getting smarter", said Charlie Tritschler, Vice President, Amazon Devices.

Amazon is the company vetting the strangers you're letting into your home, and the security this fact gives you depends on how much you trust a tech giant to safeguard your valuables. "And so one option, of course, is to have it on your doorstep, another option is to have an Amazon Locker, and now we have a new option if you just want it delivered inside your house". The program is also a new option of package delivery which leaves the order safely inside the customers home.

For example, drivers can be informed through the app of any access codes needed to bypass barriers between the street and customer front door, such as an apartment complex gate.

Also, Key isn't presently integrated with security systems, so alarms should be disabled prior to in-home delivery.

Amazon has unveiled a new service called Amazon Key, and it's very similar to Walmart's new straight-to-your-fridge delivery... with a more limited range.

"They've been on a mission to do this", said Garner.

Amazon Key will launch on November 8 in 37 cities around the United States and works with Same-Day, One-Day, Two-Day, and Standard Shipping orders. The company will verify that the right driver is at the correct address, thereby preventing any other Amazon delivery drivers from gaining access.

Inc. wants you to open the door to your delivery courier - even when you aren't home. When an Amazon delivery-service provider brings a package to the door, he or she scans the label with a phone before requesting entry to the home. Key can also be used to grant home access to third-party services like house cleaners and dog walkers.
