75 missing Indian defence personnel are in Pakistan's custody: Govt.

As reported, Zeenat Shahzadi was working on an Indian citizen's case named Hamid Ansari, On behalf of Hamid's mother, Fauzia, she had filed an application about this in Supreme court after which she was abducted on 19 August. "Her rescue tells me that prayers are answered, and that I can have hope in my heart", said Ms. Ansari, adding that she was eager to know more about the circumstances surrounding Ms. Shahzadi's disappearance. It was in 2015 - the same year Zeenat went missing as well. Since May 2013 and till Zeenat "disappeared" in August 2015, the two women had interacted nearly on a daily basis on the phone.

Hamid Ansari from Mumbai has been held captive in a Pakistani jail since the past five years.

Ansari who has been missing since November 2012 was arrested for illegally entering Pakistan from Afghanistan to meet an online friend.

It may be recalled that Hamid was sent on a three-year imprisonment by Pakistan on charges of espionage. Ansari is still in jail.

The Dawn quoted Justice (Retired) Javed Iqbal, the head of the missing persons' commission, as saying that he was thrilled to confirm Shahzadi's return.

Iqbal stated that the tribal groups of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces helped a lot in her recovery.

Shahzadi's family had once told human rights activists that before her abduction she had been forcibly taken away by the security agencies, detained for four hours and questioned about Hamid Ansari. His suicide made Shahzadi the focus of headlines again in 2016. "She said if she felt Hamid was innocent and was not working against Pakistan's interest, she would help me", Ansari says.

"I want to embrace Zeenat Shahzadi and thank her for all that she did for my son, even jeopardising her own life", said Fauzia.

My sister has not committed any crime in helping an Indian national.

It was due to her efforts that the security agencies admitted to having Hamid in their custody. I am happy that she is with her family and pray for her well being,"Ansari said. When she spoke to Ansari's mother she literally cried along with her and vowed to help", Latif said.
