Oklahoma City now has a variety of offensive looks, incorporating George's versatile two-way game and Anthony's isolation scoring alongside Westbrook's thousand-miles-an-hour downhill attack.

Russell Westbrook has agreed to a five-year, $205M contract extension with OKC, league sources tell ESPN.

The deal starts with the 2018-19 season, and delivers Westbrook the biggest guaranteed contract in National Basketball Association history - six seasons and $233 million through 2022-23.

Russell Westbrook appears to be committing himself to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the foreseeable future. Westbrook established a new National Basketball Association record with 42 triple-doubles while averaging a league-best 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds (10th in the NBA), 10.4 assists (third in the NBA) and 1.63 steals in 34.6 minutes per game.

The news on Friday afternoon was a welcome surprise for Oklahoma City Thunder fans.

The Thunder spent the offseason adding to Russell Westbrook's supporting cast.

Incidentally, Friday is Durant's 29th birthday.

While many players have jumped to teams in search of championships, it appears that is not the case with Russell Westbrook. In classic Westbrook fashion, he did it quietly, at 2:15 CST on the last Friday in September, he signed the richest deal in the National Basketball Association.

Of course, they still have their work cut out for them - the Golden State Warriors still exist and will still be the prohibitive National Basketball Association title favorites this season. "I am extremely grateful to Russell, his family and to our ownership for the commitment and support that they have demonstrated in supporting our vision for the Thunder".

Westbrook was selected fourth overall in the 2008 NBA Draft and has been named to six All-Star teams in his nine seasons.

Our models project Westbrook for 26.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.9 steals, and 4.7 turnovers per game while shooting 42.9% from the floor in 2017-18.
