Rohingya Insurgent Group Declares Month-long Ceasefire Amid 'Humanitarian Crisis'

Iranian worshipers have staged rallies in Tehran and many other cities to express their outrage at the ongoing brutal violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. The photos emerging from the border between the two countries show these people's desperate situation.

Amnesty said that based on interviews with witnesses and analysis by its own weapons experts, it believed there had been targeted use of landmines along a narrow stretch of the north-western border of Rakhine state that is a crossing point for fleeing Rohingya.

The Turkish first lady said Myanmar government could resolve the crisis in a short time if it wished so.

Her administration has dismissed concerns about rights abuses and refused to grant visas to United Nations officials tasked with investigating such allegations.

Hatred towards the Rohingya is profound, particularly among Myanmar's Bamar majority, making speaking up for them a potentially politically suicidal move.
