"He has experienced some hardship in his life, so he really showed an interest in wanting to help others who have had hardships as well", Jaggers said.

Fanelli said no prior experience is necessary, but volunteers do need to open up two weeks of their schedule to head down south within the next month.

The FirstEnergy Foundation is donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts in Texas, and will match employee contributions up to an additional $50,000. Volunteers, like blood, are always needed.
