"The terrorists were asked to surrender and among them, one terrorist identified as Arif Ahmad Sofi surrendered before Police".
He said that on receiving information about presence of asome terrorists in the area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khudwani area of Kulgam district.
Meanwhile, one man was arrested from the encounter site though it was not immediately clear if he was a militant or a civilian.
The police said the operation has ended.

Security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Kulgam district while the third militants surrendered.
Both belonged to the region's largest militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen, police said. "The fire was retaliated by the forces, leading to a gunfight", he said. According to Army spokesman two weapons have also been recovered in the area.
The slain militants were reportedly identified as Sayar Ahmad Wani and Dawood Illahi Khan.
