Apple has also recently announced the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3 and 4K Apple TV. For people who aren't used to spending more than $700 to $800 for a phone, this can be far more than their wallet can afford. IHS Markit also estimates that the iPhone 8 bill of materials is $247.51, or $9.57 higher than the iPhone 7 at the time of release.

While OLED displays are generally more power-efficient than traditional LCD displays, the power draw of the iPhone X's 5.8-inch display is probably larger than the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus - with their 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, respectively. These sensors help control the device's most important new feature, Face ID, which customers will use to unlock the phone and make Apple Pay purchases. Every new iPhone gets an extra hour or two on the old one if we're lucky, but that's still not enough to compete with other brands. Here the phones will go on sale from September 29.

That amount of memory is widely considered to be overkill, given the requirements of the smartphone, but it'll be interesting to see how the iPhone X stands up in terms of multitasking.
