Goods train derails near Khandala; 3 derailments in a day


None of the compartments were affected as only the engine, luggage brake and generator vehicle were went off the track.It was the third train accident on Thursday.

On September 3, four loaded wagons of a goods train derailed near Hardattpur railway station on Saturday.

One person was injured when the engine and power vehicle of the Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani derailed at 11:45 am as it was approaching the Delhi railway station, said Neeraj Sharma, Northern Railways spokesperson. The mishap reportedly occurred close to the Obara Railway Station in Sonbhadra district of the state. The train stopped after the jerk. Earlier in the day, seven coaches of Shaktipunj Express, coming from Howrah in West Bengal and headed to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, derailed near Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh. "No injury to any passenger", said CRPO.

Three days later, nine coaches of the Delhi-bound Kaifiyat Express had derailed in the Auraiya district, leaving around 100 passengers injured.

On August 20, 14 coaches of the Kalinga-Utkal Express had derailed in Muzaffarnagar, killing at least 23 people and leaving scores injured.
