ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that Sproles also tore his ACL on the same play.

Sproles left the game in the beginning of the second quarter after he went down without contact before being hit by Giants safety, Darian Thompson.

Sproles walked off the field under his own power, holding his arm.

Head coach Doug Pederson confirmed Monday that Sproles, who is also a key member of the Eagles special teams unit as punt returner, would miss the rest of the season.

The immediate reaction by most Eagles fans is no one wants for this to be their final memory of Sproles in an Eagles jersey. Thompson stands at 6 foot 1 and 213 pounds.

Sproles, 34, told ESPN in December that 2017 would be his last season.

It's not all good news from the Eagles' 27-24 win over the Giants.

"[My family] wanted me to [retire] this year". He has never played in a Super Bowl. The slippery running back has been a matchup nightmare in the passing game and a punt returning marvel in his 13 National Football League seasons.

That's old for a guy like him, but after being so close to 20,000 all-purpose yards, and thirsty for a ring, perhaps he'll give the right contender a shot next season.
