It's SNES Classic launch day and the new Super NES Classic Edition is trending on Twitter as of about 5 am ET. Gamestop was getting limited numbers of the system, so there's no guarantee you can nab one, but if you've got a store near you it might be worth checking.

And it comes pre-installed with 21 classic games including: The Legend of Zelda; Contra III Alien Wars; Donkey King Country, and Kirby Super Star.

To my great surprise, there were ninety people in line, and the employee was still handing out tickets for the 120 units they had available to sell today. It sold out from pre-orders in mere minutes.

If you would rather head out to the store: Gamestop, Target, Toys R Us, Best Buy, Thinkgeek and Walmart have all said they will have some devices available. "I had the Nintendo 64".

Glixel has asked how numerous SNES Classics were sold by the chain and will update this story when they respond.

It has a September 29 release date around the world and is the successor to the NES Classic Mini.

Best Buy sells Insignia branded 6 foot cables for $9.99 and you can buy 10 foot extension cables on Amazon for $10.99. It doesn't seem likely here, but here's the link to the landing page just in case they happen to get more. Less than 24 hours after the official release of its sequel miniature console, users have found that Hakchi2 also works with the SNES Classic.
