Kamal said former chief minister and NC Working President, Omar Abduyllah's assertion that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was playing on both sides was accurate as New Delhi had failed her in implementing the Agenda of Alliance (AoA), the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The assurance given by the Prime Minister can not be taken seriously. Rasheed has accused "her of being apologetic, untruthful and unrealistic during her meeting with PM Narinder Modi".

"The Articles 370 and 35-A stand challenged in the Supreme Court, hence it is a judicial matter and judiciary is free to do anything".

"It should not happen". He pointed out that people from Gujjar and Bakerwal communities got Scheduled Tribe status way back in 1991, but they did not get political reservation in the state legislature despite the fact that they were the third largest group after Kashmiri Muslims and Dogras. Rasheed said "It is shameful that rather asking PM Narinder Modi in an apologetic way not to touch Article 35-A, she should have told Modi that Kashmiris are not fighting for what they have within Indian constitution but are seeking a permanent resolution to the dispute".

He said New Delhi was "using judiciary" to appease Hindu fundamentalists but in the process the country's own constitution was getting weakened and leading to hatred in the relations between the people of Jammu Kashmir and people of India.

Mehbooba Mufti, during her meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Modi, is learnt to have stressed the need to strongly defend Article 35 (A), now challenged by an NGO in the Supreme Court under a writ petition, so that the situation in Kashmir is not disturbed.

"No statement has come from either the central or the state government". "We need to understand why the Indian government has not filed an affidavit, whether the issue was legal or not".

The Article was added to the Indian Constitution (Mentioned in Appendix II) through a Presidential Order -The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954.

"People think that our identity can be in danger".

Complete shutdown orders have been given by the Hurriyat Conference and the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. CM Mehbooba has also met the leaders of all the political parties in Kashmir so that she is not "outwitted" by her ally BJP.
