The new truck, with a Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engine, offers "the exclusive ability to tow 30,000 lbs. with a fifth-wheel hitch", and an in-house hitch design "allows the Ram 3500 to haul the heaviest travel trailers in the industry", according to a company news release.
Ram has unveiled the 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup, which is powered by a Cummins 6.7L diesel, with an insane 930 lb-ft. of torque - the highest rating ever for a pickup.
Those improvements produce an additional 30 lb. -ft. of torque for 930 total lb. -ft. of torque.
Ram claims that the new 3500 Heavy Duty is the pickup with the highest torque rating in the segment and the one which offers the heaviest fifth-wheel towing capacity. Ram says it designed the new hitch to allow owners to haul trailers that previously would have required a Class 4 or Class 5 truck. The hitch will be available as an upfit package for the 3500 or as a stand-alone part for $1,395.
