The Rams have been searching all year for an outside vertical threat to complement new coach Sean McVay's offense and finally have that player in Watkins, who joins former Bills teammate Robert Woods in the Rams' wide receiver corps. The five-time Pro Bowl selection also said he could sympathize with Watkins, having once been traded by the Eagles to Buffalo in exchange for a lesser talent in linebacker Kiko Alonso. He had 10 separate injuries during his three years as a Bill.
The Bills' Watkins replacement, Matthews has been on the field for all but two games in his three-year career with the Eagles, after he was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft. The latest Bills news and rumors have indicated that the team participated in two different trades as of Friday. As it stands, Watkins is getting a QB downgrade going from Tyrod Taylor to Jared Goff.
McDermott acknowledged his most hard challenge was not merely breaking the news of Watkins' departure to Taylor. You don't know me if you think I'm throwing in the towel.
"I get it", McDermott said.
"He's got rare speed", Roseman said. Tom Brady is still around, and their schedule is forcing them to play against the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Bronocos, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and several other really talented teams.
"He's 24", Snead said of Watkins. This is not a throw-in-the-towel thing at all.
"But we're just trying to figure out the best way to build this team and be competitive - not only during the regular season but hopefully one day to win playoff games and get even further than that".
Trades are pretty rare in the National Football League but nonetheless, Buffalo made a decision to shake up its roster early in training camp this season.More news: Mover to Watch: Bank of America Corporation (BAC)

Matthews, who has one year left on his contract, became expendable after the Eagles upgraded their wide receivers during the offseason.
The Eagles first game with Darby on the roster will be Thursday, August 17, when the Bills come to town for the second preseason game for both squads.
"So it's something that we felt - as well as the quarterback position, the offensive line, defensive line - you can never have enough of those guys". However, as I noted in looking in past comparables, his early draft status and those horrific stats don't necessarily mean we can write him off.
Intrigue bubbled beneath the surface with Matthews all spring and summer, as he approached the final year of his rookie deal. He's received just 42 targets while playing on the outside, accumulating 27 receptions for 284 yards and one touchdown on those targets.
So this isn't a tank, like the Sabres three and four years ago, or the Browns and Jets the last two seasons.
The Watkins trade makes some sense.
"It's a corner-deficient league".
