Both the devices are scheduled to receive the Android 8.0 update, but after that, users should not expect any major software update from OnePlus.
So today the Chinese company's Head of Product, Oliver Z., has made a decision to answer a few questions on the matter. According to a post on the OnePlus forums, the company's Head of Product Oliver Z revealed and confirmed that Android O will be the last major Android update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T.
The OnePlus 3 and 3T are two praise-worthy smartphones by OnePlus.
After the launch of the new OnePlus 5 in June, owners of last year's OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were left with some confusion whether their older devices would continue to get software updates from the company.More news: Giroud marks 50th Emirates goal for Arsenal in spectacular Leicester comeback

From here, Oliver goes on to say that the company will also be stopping the Open Beta Program for the 3/3T after Android O and use it exclusively for the OnePlus 5.
OnePlus recently released the OnePlus 5 which comes with a dual-camera setup at the rear, a slimmer and lighter design and top of the line specifications. It's worth noting that OnePlus has been pushing continuous updates through the beta program to test the new features before pushing a public release. Another question asks about security updates and they're told that due to a delay in OxygenOS 4.5 for the OP3/3T these security patches for August will be pushed "soon" by themselves and without the big 4.5 update.
While the OnePlus 3 is fairly old at this point (in terms of smartphone shelf-life at least), the OnePlus 3T is just nine months old and many buyers will be a little miffed at this news.
