John Cena To Star In 'Transformers' Bumblebee Spin-Off

The Transformer is then discovered by Charlie, who quickly finds out Bumblebee's definitely not a regular yellow VW bug.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, John Cena is set to star in the upcoming Transformers Bumblebee spinoff movie.

The film has already started filming on Monday in California. The Cenation leader is aware that his days are numbered in the ring, perhaps one of the reasons why he has taken on TV or film roles.

Here's a question: how do you successfully differentiate the Bumblebee spin-off from the other Transformers movies so audiences know that it's unlike anything they've seen from the franchise? Little is known in the way of plot, however, Paramount Pictures hopes to kickoff an entire shared universe of prequel and spinoffs with the film. John Cena commented on Twitter about his casting: "One of the most exciting projects I've been fortunate to be a part of".

Director Travis Knight, who made his debut on last year's animated film Kubo and the Two Strings, will direct Bumblebee from a script by Christina Hodson (Shut In, Unforgettable).

Either way, Cena is exiting the WWE scene once again with fans likely feasting on his new itinerary.

Bumblebee is set to release on December 21, 2018.

The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay, along with executive producers Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian and Chris Brigham. Hard to imagine that he was castrated to make the voice of an Autobots and we imagine rather that it will be to play one of the humans of the film.

Bumblebee - hitting USA theaters December 21, 2018 - will center on the titular yellow Autubot and his introduction to the planet Earth, according to THR.
