Guardiola says he's not moved by talk that Man City are favourites

Manchester City may give debuts to Kyle Walker, Danilo and Ederson but Benjamin Mendy is out with a thigh problem.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager's arrival at the Etihad Stadium was greeted by plenty of fanfare last season but Guardiola's first season in England ended trophyless. You don't see one player on my team not running.

"The group of players this season are going to stay here for a long time".

We have controlled the counter-attacks and we didn't concede one chance.

"It was a tough game and a tough introduction into the Premier League, but we know we aren't going to be facing teams like that every week".

"We did it earlier, so we were lucky because now it would be so much more expensive with what has happened in the last weeks". We needed to do that because there were four or five players at the end of their contract and we try to make a younger, deeper squad.

"I want to continue with what we did in the last three games of pre-season", said Guardiola. "Big congratulations to all the people in Manchester City - we are a strong club". City played the patient, technical passing football with which the Catalan made his name, and his starting lineup was adventurous; Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus started together ahead of twinned playmakers De Bruyne and Silva.

After a frustrating first half, which highlighted City's failures up front from last season, change was always going to come, and the breakthrough arrived within minutes of the introduction of Leroy Sane in the 68th minute.

"So we buy three and the market is so demanding right now for all the teams around the world, not just Manchester City".

They have won their opening league match in each of the past six seasons, with Sergio Aguero scoring a total of five goals in those games.

"Hopefully in the future we can be more accurate".
