Both of these teams lost their first game of the season this time past year, Arsenal going down 3-4 at home to Liverpool whilst Leicester slipped to defeat against newly-promoted Hull City in their first game as reigning champions.

"We have had a better pre-season than previous year and we have the confidence levels of a team that has won a European competition and returned to the Champions League".

By the end, though, they were both scrambling to make the Champions League and even then, Manchester United only got there via the back door that was their Europa League win.

"He is an intelligent player who can integrate our game well as we have a game backed on mobility, technique and I think he can integrate that well".

The 35-year-old was the only United player to get into double figures in the league.

Manchester City's unfamiliarity with Brighton and Hove Albion can help Chris Hughton's promoted side start their Premier League campaign with an upset win on Saturday, midfielder Solly March has said.

Supporters craved change at Arsenal last season, but many of those voices seemed quieter once the Gunners secured the FA Cup. But Guardiola's summer spending is not complete, although he concedes Manchester City will not approach future transfer windows the same way. "The group of players this season are going to stay here for a long time".

"I have conditions to deliver a better team than I did in the first season". But I think it is unsustainable.

City have spent around £200 million on new signings this summer after finishing 15 points behind champions Chelsea in the Premier League last season.

So, the stage is set for a new season of Premier League football.

A Premier League title challenge, a proper one, not one of those false dawn ones, but a full-scale, from August to May title challenge is what the Arsenal fans want.
