ESports Could Be Coming to the 2024 Olympics

Fans of video games can rejoice: the question will be finally considered by the global olympic Committee.

Estanguet also had some thoughts for esports skeptics out there: "We have to look at it because we can't say, 'It's not us".

eSports scored a major slam dunk earlier this year when the National Basketball League (NBA) announced it was creating the NBA 2K eLeague, with 17 franchises participating in an 82-game virtual season based on the popular NBA 2K video game.

"Look, there's 11 years before the Games, so it wouldn't hurt if they took a year or even six months instead of rushing", said Jed Parriott, an organizer of the NOlympics LA group. Division has already been embraced by the Asian Games; a Pancontinental multi-sport event held every four years. By 2022, it will become an official sport at the event, although it is unknown which games would be contested. It is transcending so far, in fact, that is is actually being considered for Paris's Olympic Summer Games. Estanguet, however, has said that he hopes to get all sides to interact with each other and "try if we can find some bridges" between the two sides. "It's not about Olympics, '" Estanguet told the AP in an interview in London.

Estanguet said the successes of the sport are something worth looking into for future games, with the potential to reach the 148 million esports fans from around the world.

The discussions on the sports that will be part of the Olympic Games 2024 will be launched in 2019, but nothing will be definitely decided before 2020, or after the Olympic Games in Tokyo. "The IOC will have the last say, if they want esports on the program".

The Paris organizers will reportedly meet with eSports representatives and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) about computerized matches joining the 2024 lineup. A key cog in the decision of whether or not to add esports will be International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

The most successful eSports titles are multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games or first person shooters (FPS).
