Bobby Roode debut, Shelton Benjamin returns, AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens

Wanting to team up with Gable, Daniel Bryan announced that the new team would have their first match next week on Smackdown LIVE.

How is Kevin Owens handling his loss to AJ Styles?

With the match over, The Usos weren't done just yet as they grabbed a mic and chose to inform the rest of the tag teams of Smackdown LIVE that the titles were going nowhere but back home with them. In the coming months, the feud between Mahal and Nakamura will be extended to Hell in A Cell.

AJ Styles came out to the ring.

Post-match, The Usos cut a promo about how they have the tag team division on lock and welcomed the fans to their prison. Owens refused to accept the match unless he could pick his own referee, which Styles and McMahon eventually agreed to as long as Owens understood it was his last shot at the USA title as long as Styles is champion.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. The Singh Brothers via submission in a handicap match: The Singhs worked in their dress clothes, and Nakamura quickly picked up a win with a triangle choke. Corbin was fed up with McMahon so he handed him the referee shirt.

SmackDown Women's Champion Natalya teamed with Carmella, holder of the women's Money in the Bank Briefcase, against Becky Lynch and former champion Naomi. There are some combustible elements that could turn this match into chaos. Naomi got the win for her team on Carmella with the split legged moonsault.

We see Daniel Bryan on the phone talking about surprises. This led to Baron Corbin walking up and telling him that he will do it if he gets the first title match against Owens, which Owens agreed to do so.

There was a backstage segment with Dolph Ziggler.

United States Championship - AJ Styles (c) def. Kevin Owens via pinfall to retain the title: Controversy began midway through the match when Corbin, the special guest referee, forced a break of the Calf Crusher after Owens' fingers brushed the bottom rope. Lana says that they will not stop until Tamina wins the title because she is the most feared woman on Smackdown Live. Owens wanted a special referee and Styles was fine with it because he can beat him and it doesn't matter to him who the referee is. Owens got in McMahon's face and demanded his title because he feels that Styles is a joke of a champion. McMahon not happy with Corbin's officiating, ran down to the ring to speak with The Lone Wolf while Owens delivered a low blow to The Phenomenal One. Styles agreeing to let Owens pick the referee felt slightly more gullible than him being a confident champion. Prior to tonight, McMahon had truly done nothing legitimately wrong to Owens; however, an argument can be made that he got himself involved in this match unnecessarily.

One of the blessings and curses of Smackdown is the length of the show.
