Watkins isn't averse to performing with bad quarterbacks. Here's why, plus fallout of who else is affected.
For what it's worth, Jordan Matthews has been way more consistent than Watkins, as he has had at least 800 receiving yards and 65 receptions every single season. Watkins and former Bills teammate Robert Woods will be the Rams' primary receivers.
After all, the 2018 draft class is considered strong at the quarterback position, and the Bills now have two first-round picks, two second-round picks and two third-round picks in that draft. Mathews' production and the fact that he's only 26 during the 2018 season might make him the most attractive of the bunch considering Watkins' durability issues. The Bills declined his fifth-year option for 2018 - call it writing on the wall, if you will - allowing him to hit the open market next offseason.
The Bills lack depth in the wide receiver corps in terms of proven players. "Everybody's forgetting [signing Anquan] Boldin last week". This is not a throw-in-the-towel thing at all.
"I've been there", he said Friday after practice. "So having fast people on your team, you never have too many of those". If we were throwing in the towel, I wouldn't have tried to get a starting receiver back. To your question on Tyrod, it's nothing. We're trying to figure out who's going to start. Jordan Matthews is a starting receiver. You look at those numbers and what he's done, those aren't to be laughed at. "It's our best interest".
Matthew seemed miscast as a WR1 past year in Philadelphia, but he was also working with an inconsistent rookie QB.
How the Eagles align against three- and four-receiver sets will be fascinating, a variable that plays into Schwartz's blitz-happy ways with safety Malcolm Jenkins the ultimate wildcard.
"We are going in a direction", McDermott said. He'll now be replaced by E.J Gaines. We had a short period of time together.

For one, Watkins will be a free agent after this season. He missed part of the offseason because of wrist surgery and is now dealing with a hamstring injury.
Darby started 29 games in his first two seasons in Buffalo. And their last one, Josh Reynolds, is a rookie who is raw.
Watkins went to Buffalo at No. 4 and totaled 1,000 yards in his second season.
Matthews has been a highly productive player since being selected 42nd overall in 2014.
The Rams are betting on two things: that Watkins will stay healthy and play like the guy he was at Clemson, and that they can afford to keep him around long-term.
Matthews now has a little less than a month to get up to speed with a new offense.
Part of the issue is that Matthews' value is hard to gauge. "Those guys make the decisions for our team".
There is also a knee injury to consider. The Bills are off Saturday before returning to training camp on Sunday. The Eagles are also high on rookie Mack Hollins and second-year player Marcus Johnson.
"I'd love to have some continuity there". That said, we're going to compete like insane.More news: Needham Company Raises Zillow Group, (NASDAQ:ZG) PT to $52.00
