Big Ten Releases Conference Schedule

Television designations for the Big Ten men's basketball conference schedule and Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament will be announced at a later date.

The Spartans will open Big Ten play with a December 3 home game against Nebraska, according to the league schedule announced on Wednesday. The Huskers will play at Michigan State on December 3 and host Minnesota on December 5 to open league play as the league shifts its schedule to accommodate the Big Ten Tournament being played at Madison Square Garden.

Overall, Penn State owns a 262-152 record in 25 seasons as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

The 2018 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament will be held in New York, New York, from February 28 to March 4, one week earlier than in past years.

The tournament, being held in NY for the first time, had to be held a week earlier than normal because the Big East is holding its conference tournament in the same venue the following week. The tournament will be there through at least 2022.

In the preseason, MSU is ranked No. 2 by Sporting News, No. 3 by ESPN and No. 4 by CBS, while Duke (SN-3, ESPN-5, CBS-1), North Carolina (11, 7, 12), Minnesota (10, 15, 14), Notre Dame (16, 21, 13), Northwestern (24, 20, 15) and Purdue (23, -, 24) are also ranked. The Lady Lions defeated Northwestern to open Big Ten play in 2015 and fell at Rutgers to close out 2016. All 14 teams will advance to the tournament, with two first-round games slated for Wednesday, Feb. 28. The Hawkeyes will conclude their regular season at home for the third consecutive year.

Nebraska will play Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin twice each this season.

Away only opponents include; Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin. The Recent Graduate program returns for a third season and features two options; a $65 baseline package and the $84 sideline package.
