At just 18 weeks pregnant, former Bachelor victor Vienna Girardi suffered a miscarriage of her twin daughters and is opening up about it in a heartbreaking post, which she says is "the hardest thing I have ever had to write".

Vienna starred on the ABC reality show in 2010, after which she was engaged to Jake Pavelka for a few months.

"This is the hardest thing I have ever had to write", Girardi wrote, saying she went in for an August 3 ultrasound because "the Perinatologist notice one of my twins had more fluids than the other which was the first sign of TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome) this is when one twin takes more nutrients than the other".

While Girardi, 31, explained it initially looked like there had been an improvement, her water broke later in the evening as a result of the amniotic sacs rupturing. "I spent the next two days in the hospital trying everything to save them".

Girardi confirmed her "little angels went to Heaven" on August 5. Vienna risked her own life causing an infection in her uterus, but it didn't work. It was the first sign of TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome), where one takes more nutrients than the other.

Vanessa also shared that she made the hard decision to donate her daughters' bodies to science, so doctors can study the effects of TTTS and hopefully learn how to prevent it.

Vienna in June publicly declared she was pregnant, and last month said that she was expecting girls after a gender reveal.

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce my dear friend and client Vienna Girardi suffered a miscarriage two weeks ago", Harlow said in a statement to PEOPLE. "Your mommy will never forget you and I loved you both with my entire heart".

Vienna is now recovering and the process may take time.

We can't imagine the pain that Vanessa is feeling right now, and our hearts go out to her during this hard time. Vienna posted on her Facebook page giving the details of what happened during the two days she tried to save her little girls. "Please respect her privacy and allow her time to grieve".

However, everything between them ended in a messy split.
