10 reasons to watch the Steelers' 2017 National Football League preseason opener

For the first time since their disappointing playoff loss to Green Bay on January 8, the Giants will suit up for a game Friday night as they open the 2017 preseason at home against the Steelers. Manning will enter his age-36 season with the deepest receiving corps he's ever had - even if Sterling Shepard isn't 100 percent after an early camp ankle injury.

The Steelers have already announced Brown, their star wide receiver, and Roethlisberger, their future Hall of Fame quarterback, will not play.

What Channel is the Steelers vs Giants Game On? The key for him is to stay healthy and to make sure he doesn't celebrate too much if he scores.

"You know what? He jumped in there and got beat like a drum on the first play", McAdoo said after practice, referring to a play during which Olivier Vernon beat Wheeler badly to the inside. That's Football Dancing 101.

Left unsaid were a couple of other issues: the Steelers won't rescind the tender to Bell, which would make him an unrestricted free agent, nor would they offer more money than the $12.1 million on a one-year deal to entice Bell to sign. But the idea that the Steelers should openly identify beating the Patriots as their goal for 2017, that the team should be building its roster and devising its schemes to beat the Patriots would be the wrong approach.

It's a fun name to say, it's a fun name to put on a depth chart, it's a fun name to type over and over in a column.

Yesterday, Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert released this statement below via the team's official website Steelers.com.

"My feeling is there's nothing to be gained by a holdout", Colbert said Wednesday.

At least Bell's working on his Snapchat game.

Bell set franchise rushing records in the first two playoff games. Victor Cruz in 2010 is the ultimate example, but just a year ago Romeo Okwara, an undrafted rookie from Notre Dame, notched a sack in each of the final three preseason games and found himself suiting up Week 1 in Dallas. If the pass defense looks bad, I hereby reserve the right to repeatedly use this video with the caption: "Ben Roethlisberger throws into the Steelers secondary".

The offense is going to have its first test this week when the Steelers come. Dobbs isn't a finished product, but he'll have a chance to show the Steelers if he's worth investing time and work into. However, that would also mean we'll see most of the remaining first-stringers play most or all of the first quarter. Either way, it will be a memorable night.
