Warriors to re-sign JaVale McGee to 1-year deal

Center JaVale McGee will re-sign with the National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors on a one-year deal, multiple outlets reported on Thursday. Coming off its second championship in three seasons, the team re-signed Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, Zaza Pachulia and David West earlier this summer while adding Omri Casspi and Nick Young in free agency. McGee confirmed the report in the most flawless way imaginable: He posted a video to his Instagram of himself celebrating while "Welcome Back" by Mase played.

After bouncing around the league for years, the 7-footer found a home in Golden State last season, averaging 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in a limited role off the bench. Golden State now has 15 guaranteed contracts, making their roster complete.

Given McGee's lengthy injury history prior to 2016-17, the Warriors are betting big on his ability to stay healthy.

"This has been somewhat of a redemption season", McGee told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated in May.

JaVale McGee's journey to another season with the Warriors was not necessarily quick, but it is now reportedly over.
