The "N" stands for Namyang, Hyundai's global R&D centre in Korea, where the idea was born, and for the Nurburgring, home to Hyundai's European test centre, where the N line-up was further developed and tested. The Fastback sits 5mm lower than the hatchback and a slimmer glass line is another contributing factor to this latest version being 30mm lower overall than its siblings.

The i30 N is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine available with the two power outputs: the Standard Package engine delivers 250bhp whereas the Performance Package engine's maximum power is boosted to 275bhp.
Positioned as a slightly more premium offering compared to the more practical regular hatch, Hyundai is hoping to attract the kind of discerning Euro-centric buyers that might find something like a Mercedes-Benz CLA or Audi A5 appealing, but at a more wallet-friendly price. The i30N is available with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. All engines get an engine start/stop system. "The i30 Fastback is the first elegant five-door coupe to enter the compact segment, underlining our commitment to innovation and customer choice". The different modes change the character of the auto, adjusting the parameters of the engine, the dampers, ESC, limited slip diff and rev-matching. Thankfully though, Schmid also believes his company may have the antidote to this current and ongoing phenomenon in the shape of a third body style being added to the i30 range: a fastback coupe. When designing the i30 Fastback we played with the proportions of the i30 range by reducing the height of the Cascading Grille and lowering the roof line.More news: La Casa Blanca celebró voto masivo en plebiscito simbólico en Venezuela
