Katy Perry Will Be Your 2017 VMA Host

It looks like Katy Perry will have a very good time at the MTV Video Music Awards this year.

Perry broke the news by sharing a video on her Twitter feed of her appearing to fly in space as a metallic purple astronaut suit.

The "Roar" singer was also nominated with Calvin Harris in the best video collaboration category for "Feels", pitting her directly against her pop rival Taylor Swift, who got a nod for her duet with Zayn Malik for "I Don't Wanna Live Forever". The singer will be hosting the ceremony, as well as performing. "Brace for impact! August 27th on @MTV @VMAs".

Miley Cyrus hosted the event two years ago, but in 2016, MTV made a decision to have multiple presenters throughout the night rather than a single host. Previous hosts included Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler, Russell Brand, Jack Black, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Chris Rock on multiple occasions.
