World's worst person robbed Portland hero while he lay dying


Fletcher was one of three people who were stabbed for stepping in when a man verbally assaulted Destinee Mangum, 16, and her 17-year-old Muslim friend, who was wearing a hijab, on a MAX train.

In the patrol vehicle, Christian can be heard on surveillance video saying he stabbed three people in the neck and that he can "die a happy man", according to court papers. In court on Tuesday, two police officers escorted Christian into the courtroom and from behind a panel of glass, the suspect bellowed, "Free speech or die Portland!".

Prosecutors say he attacked them after they confronted him for harassing two young black women, one of whom wore a Muslim head covering.

According to the affidavit, Christian made a sudden move toward passenger Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, who responded by standing. Fletcher was stabbed in the neck but survived. Christian, 35, did not enter a plea and has another court date June 7. "This is America. Get out if you don't like free speech".

"We in Portland have this weird tendency to continue patterns that we've done forever, and one of them is [the] same old. just to put it bluntly, white savior complex", Fletcher said in the video.

"Just remember that, you know, they got hurt, too", he said. His wound missed being a fatal injury by millimeters, officials said in court documents.

The defendent told police that he has no mental health issues, no income and can not recall the last time he had a permanent address. Fletcher was stabbed first in the neck then Namkai-Meche was stabbed twice, also in the neck.

Video obtained by CNN affiliate KOIN shows that Christian was involved in similar behavior on a MAX train only one day before.

Police have been investigating his alleged extremist ideology, while his Facebook page is filled with anti-Semitic comments and other evidence of his views. He'd also been reportedly videotaped at a conservative rally yelling slurs against Jews, Muslims, and what he called "fake Christians".
