The hospital said earlier in the week that he had undergone surgery for internal injuries and a broken leg.
The rifle-wielding attacker - James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Ill. - died after being wounded by Capitol Police. The first said that he "remains in critical condition, but has improved in the last 24 hours".
According to hospital officials, the bullet traveled across his pelvis - fracturing bones, damaging organs and causing severe bleeding.
Williams, a Republican coach who injured his leg and ankle while diving for cover during the shooting, also said it was important to play ball as planned.

Despite the shooting, the congressional baseball game went forward Thursday evening at Nationals Park in Washington. His doctors cautioned, however, that he remained in critical condition and would "be in the hospital for some time". Reporters in Washington tracked Scalise's every hospital update and shared it on social media.
One of the Capitol Police officers, David Bailey, who was hailed as a hero for the way he helped to subdue the gunman, appeared on crutches.
Sava said Friday that there are hundreds of bullet fragments in Scalise's body, but "we have no intention to try and remove all the bullet fragments at this point". He said he hoped the game would help heal emotional wounds.
Lobbyist Matt Mika was shot multiple times and critically injured.
