Fans lined the streets from the funeral to the cemetery to pay tribute to The Allman Brothers Band frontman.
The singer was spotted entering the small chapel to attend the private service, which was only open to friends and family. Director Cameron Crowe, who based the movie Almost Famous on his experiences of following the Allman Brothers Band for a Rolling Stone profile, also praised the star.Their best-known hits include Whipping Post, Midnight Rider, Melissa and Ramblin' Man and their southern rock sound is credited with inspiring groups such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Marshall Tucker Band. At many concerts the Allman Brothers Band held for me, the people who attended would donate the ticket price to the campaign and then the federal government matched that amount.
Allman's bluesy vocals and soulful touch on the Hammond B-3 organ helped propel The Allman Brothers Band to superstardom and spawn Southern rock.

"He's somebody who has been in my life first as an artist and later as a real person since I was about 8 years old, and so it's shocking to think of the world without him", said Paul, 50, who interviewed Allman many times for his book. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Allman was raised in Florida by a single mother.
Allman was supposed to perform at Macon's Grand Opera House on Saturday night. "He said the last few days he was just, you know, tired", Lehman said told the Associated Press.
