"Gyms will temporarily close starting Monday, June 19".
The "Pokemon GO" player base are pretty much aware by now about the news as it was posted on the game's website.
When asked about the timeframe for the gyms closing, NianticGeorge replied with this: "I don't have an exact time". This in-game event will feature Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon, huge XP bonuses for throwing Poké Balls accurately, and discounted Lucky Eggs in the in-game shop. Quigley is quoted, saying: "The capture mechanic is fun, but you're a lone wolf, you're going out there on your own. In preparation for these exciting features, we'll be temporarily disabling gyms for a short period of time".
This temporary shutdown will definitely help the game improve in the future. Thus, over the past couple of days, the Pokemon GO community has largely been speculating about when the shutdowns would actually take effect. If rumors are anything to go by, it is said that the game maker could be adding up a new game mode within the AR title. The date was provided by a Redditor who has been verified to have access to the developer's timelines.More news: Several people hurt following shooting in Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning

Niantic is preparing "Pokemon GO" for a major update, and by doing so, several systems have to be momentarily shut down.
There is no doubt that Niantic will bring in such a feature.
People have been requesting PvP battles since launch so hopefully this is the new feature that is coming out soon.
According to the official announcement that was published, any Pokemon that is assigned to the Gym will be returned to the players.
