Nokia delivers on digital health products

As the company continues to transition away from a core business of selling phones, digital health will play a larger role in the Nokia portfolio in the future.

Back at Mobile World Congress 2017, Nokia confirmed that health device developer Withings would be folded into the broader Nokia brand and the rebranding process now appears to be complete. Nokia had acquired Withings back in April 2016 for a massive $192 million.

One of the most notable features I found about using Withings products is the inter-connectivity the devices have when tethered to the health app, or when paired with third-party products like the My Fitness Pal app.

In many ways it's business as usual, with numerous products that we've raved about from Withings over the last few years moving across, including the Activitie Fitness Watch range (though they lose the Activitie name), forehead thermometer, an improved blood pressure monitor and an upgraded BMI Wifi Connected Scale. It essentially offers smart weight management for the entire family and provides high accuracy measurements via a patented Position Control technology that detects the body position.

Then there's the health app which ties this all together - Nokia Health Mate. The scale has a weight trend graph that shows your progress during each weigh-in to stay motivated.

The Nokia Health Mate app has also been redesigned and now has improved navigation for discovery of content and new wellness programs to help users reach health goals based on their specific health and well-being needs.

As for the softer and more portable version of the company's blood pressure monitor lineup, the Finnish giant today did also debut the Nokia BPM+.

The Withings' Health Mate app has been updated as well. The existing Withings Body scale, which measures body fat, is now the Nokia Body Plus, while the Withings Body Cardio is now the Nokia Body Cardio; which measures bodyfat and analyses cardiovascular health.

The programs are Sleep Smarter, Better Body, Pregnancy Tracker, Healthier Heart and the Leaderboard.

If you're interested in picking up any of Nokia's health products, you can purchase them from, Amazon, Best Buy, and Bed, Bath & Beyond in the US.

Other Withings products that have been rebranded as well include the activity and sleep tracker Go, video and air quality monitor Home, and connected thermometer Thermo.
