In a press conference, President Trump announced the shooting suspect has died from his injuries.
One witness said she never saw the attacker's face but cowered in fear as the sound of the gunshots appeared to come closer, as she walked her dogs near the baseball field.
Hodgkinson was spotted regularly over the past several weeks at the YMCA next to the site of the shooting, sitting with a computer in the lobby or at a table in an exercise area that looked out onto the baseball field.

The Washington Post reports that a fellow Sanders volunteer remembered Hodgkinson as "very mellow, very reserved" when they overnighted at the home of another Sanders supporter in Rock Island, Illinois after canvassing for the campaign. Sanders released a statement on Wednesday saying he was "sickened by this despicable act". "I just want to let people know that he wasn't evil, that he was, I guess, exhausted of some of the politics that are going on". "Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society, and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms", the senator said.
Local law enforcement was aware of him for a series of minor incidents. It's lots of farmland, acres of corn and soybean fields. "He was always happy-go-lucky", said Dale Walsh, who grew up with Hodgkinson in Belleville.

Mr Hodgkinson was charged with multiple counts of domestic battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm in 2006, though those charges were dismissed. Police also recovered a 12-guage shotgun. The vast majority of the cases are traffic violations and almost all of the cases were later dismissed.
