Confident James all Cavaliers may need to win

The Warriors have home court advantage and are heavy favourites - James called them a "juggernaut" - when the best-of-seven finals begin Thursday at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

Golden State already was hard enough to stop with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, but adding Kevin Durant in the offseason was borderline unfair.

And that may be the tipping point in a series that pits far and away the hottest teams in the league against each other in a third straight National Basketball Association final.

Durant was the second pick of the 2007 National Basketball Association draft, behind Greg Oden.

Everything he can do to help Golden State get prepared, Kerr is doing - until he feels he might be fine to return to the bench. "To be headed to the NBA Finals is a great way to combat all that talk".

All seem to agree on the Golden State Warriors winning.

There is Cleveland's LeBron James, arguably operating at a level that even he has never achieved in a career that will end in the hall of fame, and there's Golden State's Kevin Durant, cast in some corners as the villain of the times, and there is chatter on which of them might emerge as the most valuable player in the final. The Warriors are back with a more formidable team after adding Kevin Durant, a healthier one after Stephen Curry was banged up last postseason, and not even LeBron James and the Cavs are given much chance of stopping them. "We're trying to take what they took from us a year ago". LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love will pose the biggest threat to the Warriors as they've seen since last year's championship series. The Warriors are the best first quarter team in the postseason in terms of net rating (+32.1 points per 100 possessions) and are +112 in point differential in first halves. Can other games or matches or series live up on those two measures?

The Warriors are a powerhouse, but the Cavs are 12-1 in the playoffs and give themselves a shot no matter who else does. "I think once we get to Game One, that might be a good time to make a decision one way or the other".

But, as Edwin Starr concluded when he asked what war was good for ("Absolutely nothing"), so say I of the regular season for a contender like the Cavaliers.

"They are a great team". Yikes. If they need any motivation to win, all they have to do is remember Game 5 of the 2016 Finals. "And tonight we had 20, and that's way too many against this team."The game started less with rust and more with both teams looking like they felt the pressure of the moment - there were bad passes, hesitations, and it looked like a Saturday morning rec league game for a few minutes". Tyron Lue, will again coach the Cavaliers, and Mike Brown is scheduled to do the same for the Warriors.

"We'll use it as fuel, use it as motivation", Love said.

One of the reasons I'd opt to stay clear of picking a side in the first game, would be due to the delay and rest the players are getting.
