Apple unveils 'the most powerful Mac we have ever made'


SSD storage options are now up to 50 percent faster, and iMac comes with Thunderbolt 3, the most powerful and versatile port ever. Apple has announced that the new iMac will be available to order starting Monday via, and will be available to buy in Apple Stores starting on Wednesday.

The iMac Pro is scheduled to ship in December starting at $4,999 in the US.

What are the iMac 2017 specifications?


With thin and light designs, powerful performance, unbelievable displays and all-day battery life, Mac notebooks deliver the world's best portable computing experience.* MacBook now features faster Kaby Lake processors up to 1.3 GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz and up to 50 percent faster SSD, and supports up to twice the memory. They include 500 nits of brightness, 10-bit dithering and one billion colours. These chips have higher base and turbo frequencies for improved performance. Ternus says the new system will be up to three times faster than its predecessors when it comes to graphics support and rendering.

Apple has updated the whole iMac 2017 range with new displays which it says are the best ever. You'll get up to Core i7, of course. Fusion Drives are now standard on all 27-inch configurations and the top-end 21.5-inch iMac.

For the smallest iMac, you'll now get up to 32GB of RAM and a nice bump on the graphics side of things.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics means performance will be up to 80 percent faster than the previous generation. The all-new iMac Pro sports 27-inch Retina 5K display with up to 18-core Xeon processors and up to 22 Teraflops of graphics computation. You'll be able to take advantage of up to 5.5 Teraflops of power. Workstation-Class Performance in an iMac Design Featuring next-generation Intel Xeon processors up to 18 cores, iMac Pro is created to handle the most demanding pro workflows.

The iMac Pro will have 128GB of ECC memory, up to 4TB 3Gbps SSD, 4x Thunderbolt ports and 10Gb Ethernet.

The new Mac Pro is obviously the most powerful computer Apple has ever released and has more to offer than anything they've previously had. Other specs include a 1080p FaceTime camera, Bluetooth 4.2, 11ac Wi-Fi, four beamforming mics, louder audio and an SDXC card slot.

The new 21.5-inch iMac Retina 4K will come with AMD Radeon Pro 555 and Radeon Pro 560 graphics.
