Wenger says Cup triumph has no bearing on his future

Arsenal's Francis Coquelin, Olivier Giroud, and Granit Xhaka celebrate after Aaron Ramsey (not pictured) scores their second goal against Chelsea during FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

However, they missed out on the double after a 2-1 defeat by the Gunners at Wembley on Saturday.

Speaking to Jake Humphrey, Gerrard said of Wenger's future, "I would go". "We have a board meeting on Tuesday, and all will be clear on Wednesday or Thursday".

Arsenal heads into an uncertain offseason, with the club out of the Champions League next season after a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

With the win, Arsenal salvaged a disappointing season in which it failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in two decades.

"But to play for 10 men, we were able to equalise and then to concede a second goal was a key moment for the loss".

Chelsea were trailing after just four minutes following Alexis Sanchez's controversial opener, while their afternoon got worse when Victor Moses was sent off for diving inside Arsenal's box. It's also the seventh FA Cup title for manager Arsene Wenger, the most by any manager.

But the season has ended with a run of six victories in May after Wenger adopted the three-man defense that has served Conte so well, until now.

"There is disappointment for the final result, but our season was incredible".

"This team has suffered". You can see from today that we are a good side that can get better still with a little strengthening, I spend every minute of my season with commitment to this club. "They showed strength and unity and played spectacular football".

Despite the trophy win, his future continues to be under cloud after spending 22 years at the club.

Despite being all at sea Chelsea did threaten with Costa denied by a perfectly-timed tackle by Per Mertesacker who was making his first start for Arsenal for 13 months.

Ramsey scored his side's third and crucial goal in the 2013-14 showpiece against Hull City and was the hero again on Saturday, cancelling out Diego Costa's goal a few minutes earlier to secure the win and make Wenger the FA Cup's most successful manager with seven final victories. Moses darted into the right side of the Arsenal area and appeared to dive, with the referee subsequently dismissing the Nigeria global for a second yellow card.

"This season has been hurt by a blip in March and I am convinced now, looking back at this season, by the uncertainty about my future with the players". Fair play to him, he's changed the system and it's paid off.
