A small but growing number of Republican US lawmakers called on Wednesday for an independent probe of possible collusion between President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian Federation, spurred by a memo from the fired FBI chief that Trump had sought to impede the agency's investigation.
The Kremlin's expectation that Trump and Putin would meet soon after Trump took office have withered amid congressional and FBI investigations of the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation.
The existence of the memo, which was reportedly written by Mr Comey himself, suggests that Mr Trump had attempted to influence investigations into his associates and Russian Federation. "I rise today, Mr. Speaker, to call for the impeachment of the President of the United States of America for obstruction of justice".
"If the US administration finds it possible, we are ready to provide a recording of the conversation between Mr Lavrov and Mr Trump to the US Congress and Senate", Mr Putin said. According to the New York Times, Trump told Comey, "I hope you can let this go". The president's critics say the disclosure could compromise the source of the intelligence provided by a USA ally and make other nations wary about sharing sensitive information with the United States.More news: Putin offers transcript to prove Trump did not pass Russia secrets

Top Russian lawmakers also have vented frustration and anger over the latest commotion over Trump's relationship with Russia.
"If this is true, it is disconcerting and it opens up a new chapter of scandal and controversy in this country", Curbelo told NBC News Tuesday of reports that President Doanld Trump urged Comey to drop his investigation into ousted National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation declined to comment on the details of the Comey memo.
The report, on Tuesday night, added to the chaotic atmosphere in Washington following Trump's firing of Comey on May 9 and a separate report that Trump gave sensitive information to Russian officials. "By doing so, he can help return the discussion to solving problems and working hard on behalf of the American people". There is a broader probe into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, as well as a separate investigation into Mr Flynn.
Curbelo, the most endangered Republican, was already feeling the heat from constituents over his vote for the GOP health care bill when NBC News visited his district earlier this month and seems to be losing patience with the White House' handling of fired FBI Director James Comey.
