Tornado Touches Down in Northwestern Davie Co., Yadkin Co

The warning will remain in effect until 4:15 p.m.

A tornado watch was issued for Lake, Volusia, Marion, Flagler and Sumter counties Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The watch is also in effect for surrounding SC counties, including York, Lancaster and Chester counties.

FOX8 crews are now gathering more information about storm damage in the Piedmont Triad.

A state of emergency is in effect for Autryville after the tornado with winds of 110 miles per hour damaged the fire station and several mobile homes on Tuesday.

A gymnasium at an elementary school had two walls blown out and part of its roof ripped away in Yadkin County. No injuries were reported. So far no injuries were reported, but Leonard said the situation was still being assessed. He could not confirm reports of people being trapped in damaged structures.

Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said one man was treated by emergency personnel after suffering minor injuries when a mobile home overturned, according to the AP.

Mocksville Fire Department in Yadkin County reported a tornado touchdown at Highway 601 at Highway 801 that moved north into the Courtney Community near the Davie and Yadkin County line. Numerous trees and power lines are down blocking roads in the Courtney and West Yadkin areas.

There are more thunderstorms in the forecast for Thursday.
