This is Mike Brown's chance for revenge on LeBron James

LeBron James surpassed Michael Jordan to become the highest points scorer in National Basketball Association play-off history as the Cleveland Cavaliers reached the finals for a third successive year.

We'll see how Lue feels about that comment if Cleveland is able to win another game in the series against Boston, as the Cavs will get their hands on the Warriors starting June 1 for the third consecutive NBA Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers pose with their trophy after winning Game 5 of the NBA basketball Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics 135-102, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, in Boston.

Cleveland jumped to a quick 14-5 lead and was up by 43-27 after the first quarter -posting a franchise record for points in a quarter of a playoff game.

James played in his 212th career postseason game on Thursday night, when the Cavaliers met the Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

The Cavaliers, who rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Warriors in last year's finals, set an National Basketball Association record in winning their 13th straight playoff series potential closeout game. For the third time in five games, Kevin Love opened the contest with a three. But even with the series shifting back to Cleveland, Boston has both won Game 3 and led at halftime in Game 4, before the Cavaliers eventually pulled away.

With his esteemed teammate in foul trouble during the first half, Irving had to step up in game four and James said it came as no surprise.

Currently, the Warriors are favored in Las Vegas Odds at -7.0 for Game One.

"In the back of mind I'm saying to myself, 'They can not tie up this series".

"(We) went through some tough times in the regular season, but we knew we had confidence to be great", Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said.

What makes LeBron among the two best players in the history of the sport is not the man's unparalleled athleticism or his unrivaled desire to win.

"This will be talked about long after us", Green said.

Avery Bradley led Boston with 23 points.

More alarmingly, James was unable to conjure one of his trademark rallies in the 4th quarter as the Celtics began to sense a vital win.

James scored 35 points and added eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals, and Kyrie Irving posted 24 points.

Thomas said he never doubted that coach Brad Stevens and general manager Danny Ainge were more concerned about his future than getting him back into the game. I think you've found two great teams, and we've played that way, and maybe people don't appreciate it because of a blowout or because of a sweep. The big star for the Giants that year was future Yankees manager Casey Stengel, who hit an inside-the-park homer in the ninth inning to win Game 1 and drove in the only run in Game 3 with another homer.
