The Jaguar XE is About to Get a Whole Lot Hotter

Rather by surprise and on the dawn of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring weekend, Jaguar's SVO division has unleashed a limited production performance sedan based upon the Jaguar XE.

The successor to 2014's Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 will be limited to just 300 units worldwide and promises supercar performance and dynamics in a sports sedan design. However, here it has been tuned for 592bhp - an increase of 25bhp - making it the most powerful Jaguar to ever hit the road.

It's called the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and the British automaker says it's the most extreme Jaguar ever. Not only that, it will become the most powerful road-legal Jaguar in history. "The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable".

The XE SV Project 8 is the second "collector's" auto from Jag's Special Vehicle Operations outfit, and its 590 horsepower does in fact make it the most powerful production Jag, beating even the current F-Type and classic XJ220 supercar.

"Our clients worldwide were thrilled by the F-TYPE Project 7", continued Edwards.

There are plans to put the beast into limited production, with Jaguar saying the price for such an extreme sports auto will reflect the level of performance and exclusivity.

The Project 8 will make its public debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex on 30 June 2017 and full specifications will be released two days earlier on the Jaguar website.
