To celebrate the first anniversary of this massive hit, Blizzard is having a special event for all of their players beginning May 23. And according to the official Brazilian Overwatch Facebook page, some of these cosmetic items will include new dance emotes for some characters in the game. The description of the new maps as Arena maps is also an interesting thing to note, as Blizzard has not widely used the term before.
In other news, Blizzard is going to rerelease "Overwatch". Odds are these won't be the only skins added to the event, but they look cool as a teaser for what's to come.
Blizzard will celebrate the first anniversary of Overwatch with a selection of new maps, voice lines, emotes and skins.
In addition, Blizzard has also planned to hold another Free Weekend for the month of May. Overwatch's Anniversary Event begins on May 23rd, the same day its Game of the Year Edition launches, and will end on June 12th.
"We have some ideas", game director Jeff Kaplan said (via PvP Live). To really set Overwatch apart as its own IP.
"For this free weekend, we're making Overwatch's full roster of heroes and maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the latest Weekly Brawl", reads a Blizzard post. "So I think we would like to do it at some point".
After the video game's great success, Blizzard also announced that there will be a new Game of the Year Edition for it. The fans will be able to also keep the progress if they will buy the game after the Free Weekend.
