Man injured when motorcycle hits 10-foot gator in Florida

FHP says Calun Nelson, 27, was headed west on SR-674 when an alligator was crossing the road. He tried unsuccessfully to avoid the gator. The motorist suffered minor injuries after losing control and rolling her vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcycle hit the alligator and Nelson was thrown from the bike, troopers said.

Nelson collided with the alligator and was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on the overpass for the Little Manatee River. The 10-foot, 9-inch alligator was retrieved by trapper Rob Upthegrove and died this afternoon. The motorcycle hit the alligator and the driver was ejected.
