While discussing Clinton's 2016 candidacy, Biden told the crowd, "I never thought she was the correct candidate".

He said he didn't think that Hillary Clinton, who ended up as the Democratic nominee and lost to President Donald Trump, was the right candidate, the magazine reported.

Biden had considered running for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 election, but ultimately decided not to run as he focused on being with his son, Beau Biden, a former state attorney general of DE, who died in 2015 after battling brain cancer.

Biden was applauded when he said Barack Obama had served eight years "without a single scandal", and branded the former president "absolutely totally competent".

"At this point, no one in my family or I have made the judgment to run", the former vice president said.

Biden's characterization of Clinton as the wrong candidate came while speaking at the SkyBridge Capital event according to the Huffington Post.

Biden also said he must fulfill several financial promises with his wife, Jill, including paying off their mortgage, CNN notes.

"We're pleased that Joe Biden will join us on one of the most significant days in our medical center's history", Gold said.

If Trump somehow manages to make it through the end of his term (please God, no) and actually has the balls to run again, Biden's chances for beating him would be good. I thought I could beat anybody that ran.

Biden announced in October 2015 from the White House Rose Garden that he would not run for president.

"Everybody is entitled to the dignity they've earned", added Biden, who served six terms as a USA senator from DE before his eight years as vice president to Barack Obama.

On the fractured political landscape in D.C., Biden said, "The public is sick of it".
