The bill, which was already passed in the Senate, will be returned to the Senate for concurrence and then sent to Governor Greg Abbott for a signature.

"It was kind of expected", said Damon McNew, Beggs' stepfather.

"(The bill) is placing a lot of faith in the ability of the state to protect these children, but the bottom line is these are prisons and there's no question about that", Sen.

Data showed Texas police fatally shot 82 people in 2016.

The House is working until midnight Thursday.

They also said that many Texans' property tax bills are increasing not because of higher tax rates but because of increased property values on which the rates are based.

"There've been some bills that have passed though that have been harmful, SB4 comes to mind, and that has many in our community, documented and undocumented, terrified", said Hinojosa.
