Fortunately, the team behind the DCEU superhero film seems to have followed the schedule as director James Wan recently announced on Twitter that filming has officially begun.

Warner Bros. has released the official logo for its Aquaman solo film to celebrate the start of production.

Based on the DC Comics first released in 1941, Aquaman tells the story of the "King of the Seven Seas". If you are reading this then you may know that movie directors use working (fake) titles to throw the general public off the scent. Also, the film will be shooting in Newfoundland, Sicily and Tunisia.

The upcoming film stars Jason Momoa as the title character, Amber Heard as Mera, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Aquaman's father, Patrick Wilson as Orm (aka Ocean Master), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta and Willem Dafoe as Vulko.

Aquaman is due for release on December 21st, 2018; Justice League opens on November 17th. Zack and Deborah Snyder from Justice League are executive producers for the standalone DC project long with Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and others. After numerous years of being the butt of the joke, DC is trying it's best to make the King of Atlantis look more like the badass that he is compared to the blonde sissy who seems useless on land. "Because you've got to have some fun". The actor has already shown his mettle in a short tease in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, where Wonder Woman finds him in one of the file videos of metahumans.
